SPT Borings and Sampling for Foundation Design

Downtown St. Petersburg, 302 2nd Ave. South, 334 Floors New Tower Building, Pinellas County, FL

ATI Companies conducted the Geotechnical Drilling and Sampling for the Site Investigation at the 334 New Tower Building in Downtown St. Petersburg. The purpose was Geotech Drilling and Sampling for the structure foundations design, with a minimum of one boring per structure unit for the New Apartment Tower Building in downtown St. Petersburg.

A Truck Mounted CME 45B with automatic hammer was used to drill 13 SPT borings. Wash Boring and casing as needed for the first 50 ft at each boring location.

ATI Companies drilled 790 feet of SPT Borings and depending on the location in the project site and took samples at depts between 50 ft and 150 ft. Performed SPT every 5 ft from 50 ft to Total Depth for the specific Boring.

Project Services

  • Install thirteen (13) SPT Borings: 9 x 100 ft and 4 x 135 ft.
  • Wash boring (no sampling) on the upper 50 ft. Casing as needed.
  • SPT every 5 ft from 50 ft to total depth.
  • Grout borings bottom up last 50 ft than backfill with natural soil once completed.
